"Redeemer Health Food Pantry has over 200 families who visit each month in need of food assistance. They have been serving Cape May County for over 35 years. What started as a small direct delivery of food has evolved into a full shopping experience for their members that provides frozen meats, eggs, bread, cereal, fresh produce and so much more. Food is collected for distribution from the Community Food Bank of NJ, local Wawa, Acme, Shop Rite, private donors and multiple community organizations. Donations are used to purchase foods that are not routinely provided such as cereal, tuna fish, eggs, frozen meats and chicken. There are many young families with children as well as senior citizens whose social security benefits are insufficient. We also look after veterans, widows and individuals in recovery. We are incredibly thankful of the Catholic Christmas Campaign for looking after this community not only during the holidays, but also during the year."
In the words of those who see it firsthand.
By providing these essential food cards to a struggling Camden family, we are directly living out the Gospel message. Without this vital assistance, this family simply would not make it from day to day. Our small offering mimics the miracle of the five loaves and two fish, multiplying a humble gift into life-saving sustenance.
Father Jeff Putthoff, SJLiving the Gospel means stepping up to provide an essential, life-giving lifeline to families facing hunger in Camden. It is a profound privilege to watch God take our equivalent of five loaves and two fish and multiply it to feed God's children.
