Our Story

Begun by a judge. Carried by neighbors.

  1. 1986

    A judge’s idea, a neighbor’s Christmas.

The Honorable Thomas McGann founds the Catholic Christmas Campaign with a simple aim — that no one in his community should go without a Christmas dinner.

  2. ~2005

A quiet passing of the torch.

At 80, Judge McGann hands the campaign to a trusted friend, who has now carried it forward for two decades — writing every donor letter by hand.

  3. Today

An energized board of trustees eager to grow.

With a small circle of faithful donors — many the children and grandchildren of the original givers — we will distribute thousands of grocery cards over the next several years into the hands of our neighbors.

  4. Ahead

    A new generation of generosity.

Guided by our trustees, we are welcoming online gifts and gifts in lieu of flowers or favors, and quietly widening the circle so this work can outlast all of of us.
