A candlelit Christmas dinner table set with a roasted turkey, greens and a golden ornament
A South Jersey tradition since 1986

No neighbor left without
a family dinner.

For nearly forty years, the Catholic Christmas Campaign has quietly done one thing extremely well — getting meals to neighbors in need.

Our Mission

A quiet, personal kind of generosity.

Catholic Christmas Campaign seal

We continue to make a difference for thousands of families by sharing grocery store gift cards to trusted organizations across South Jersey — who in turn give them to their neighbors and parishioners who are struggling.

Most cards are distributed about three weeks before Christmas.  Some are held back for the quiet hardships that come throughout the year.  Every dollar becomes food on a real family's table - when it matters most.

No Overhead

Our trustees serve without pay and cover the campaign's small operating costs themselves.  Every dollar we receive goes directly to supporting the families we are called to serve.

Faith in Practice

Those who assist our mission — and those who receive — are known to us through the Catholic Church as well as local sponsors who alert us to families in need.  We support families regardless of their faith.

“By providing these essential food cards to a struggling Camden family, we are directly living out the Gospel message. Without this vital assistance, this family simply would not make it from day to day. Our small offering mimics the miracle of the five loaves and two fish, multiplying a humble gift into life-saving sustenance.”
— Father Jeff Putthoff, SJ
How It Works

Three steps between your gift and a family's table.

There is no warehouse, no staff, no middle layer. Your gift travels a very short distance — and you can trace every step of it.

  1. 01

    You give

Online in under a minute, or by check if you prefer paper. Every donated dollar is set aside for grocery cards — nothing is skimmed for costs.

  2. 02

    We buy the cards

Each Christmas we purchase ShopRite gift cards at $25 each, and hand them personally to volunteers from different faith communities, outreach organizations and dedicated individuals.

  3. 03

    A neighbor eats

Those trusted hands pass the card to a family they already know is struggling — no forms, no interview, no questions about faith. Only dignity.

Living the Gospel means stepping up to provide an essential, life-giving lifeline to families facing hunger. It is a profound privilege to watch God take our equivalent of five loaves and two fish and multiply it to feed God’s children.

Frequently Asked

Small charity.
Straight answers.

Where does my donation actually go?
Every dollar is used to purchase $25 ShopRite grocery gift cards, which are hand-distributed to families in need across South Jersey. Our trustees serve without pay and cover the campaign's operating costs themselves — donors carry no overhead.
Who receives the gift cards?
Trusted individuals and organizations affiliated with the Catholic Church and our local communities — pastors, teachers, parish volunteers and community groups — pass the cards directly to families they know are struggling.
Are you the same as Catholic Charities?
No, we are a separate organization. While we admire the work of Catholic Charities we are a smaller team with big aspirations - to help those in need in the South Jersey and Philadelphia area, particularly around the holidays.
Is my gift tax-deductible?
Yes. We are a 501(c)(3) Private Foundation. You will receive an acknowledgement for your records.
Can I give in memory of someone I love?
Yes — many of our most meaningful gifts have been made in lieu of flowers at funerals, or in place of wedding favors. We send a personal note to the family you name.
